Privacy policy

This policy covers the Human Kennel Challenge website. It explains what personal information the site asks for, where it goes and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible for your information

Care Over Cost, the UK animal charity running the Human Kennel Challenge, is the controller of any personal information you send us through this site. You can contact us at [email protected].

The sign-up form

If you sign up to take part, the form asks for your full name, email address, contact number, address and, if you choose to give it, your Instagram handle. It also notes which kennel you are signing up for.

The website does not send or store any of this. When you press send, your details are placed into a new email in your own email app, addressed to [email protected]. Nothing reaches us unless you choose to send that email, and you can edit or delete anything in it first. If your browser has JavaScript switched off, the sign-up buttons open the same kind of email with blank lines for you to fill in.

Once you send it, your email arrives in Care Over Cost's inbox. We use the details in it to arrange your place in the challenge and to contact you about it.

The business sponsor form

If you apply to be a business sponsor, the form asks for your business name, your name, email address and contact number, the kind of sponsorship you have in mind and, if you choose to give them, your website address, your logo and any other notes.

When you press send, the form passes your answers and logo to a form service run by Obsessive Software, the developer that built this site. That service emails them straight to Care Over Cost and does not keep a copy. We use the details to arrange your sponsorship, to contact you about it and, if you agree to sponsor, to show your business name, logo and link on the site.

To stop spam, the sponsor form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that runs in your browser before the form is sent. Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic browser details to do this, under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

This website keeps nothing, so it sets no time limit of its own. Your sign-up email or sponsor application stays in Care Over Cost's inbox until we delete it. If you would like it deleted, email us and ask.

Things this site does not do

The site has no accounts, no database, no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising and no cookies. The films on the page are played from this site, not from a video platform.

Other companies involved

Fonts. The page loads its fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and basic browser details. Google is based in the United States, so this may involve your IP address being processed outside the UK.

Hosting. The site is hosted by Obsessive Software, the web developer that built it free of charge. As with any website, the server that delivers these pages receives your IP address and browser details so that it can send the page to you.

Donations and links. Sponsor and donate buttons take you to JustGiving or GiveSendGo, and other links go to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and similar sites. Any details you give there are handled by those companies under their own privacy policies, not this one.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will help.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
